This movie is a great film about love longed for, given, received, and lost. Both the stars of this film, Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, return in superb performances just like the supporting cast. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is an unconventional romance told in the inventive, comedic and abstract storytelling style of Charlie Kaufman, the screenwriter of this movie. Like Kaufman’s scripts for Being John Malkovich and Adaptation, this movie works off relatively complex idea in a way easier to explain through the film’s language than through wordings.
The movie is about the story of Joel, the character of Jim Carrey, who discovered that his girlfriend has undergone some sort of experiment to erase all her memories of his boyfriend. He agreed to undergo the same experiment for him out of his frustration. The story mostly takes place within his mind following his girlfriends memories going backward in time. Joel realized that he still love her and don’t want his memory to forget about her.
It was such a great movie especially for couples. In this movie, you will see the different side of Jim Carrey when he portrays a serious role. He is such a talented actor.
